Bookings

For a one night stay, a deposit of £30 per room is required. For stays of two nights or more, a deposit of the cost of the first night is required. We can hold your telephone, fax or e-mail booking either by taking your credit card details or by allowing 7 days for a cheque to reach us.

Bookings can only be accepted from individuals over the age of 18. We do not accept single sex groups (male or female) unless agreed by us in writing when booking.

Bill Payment

Payment of the balance of your bill may be made at any time prior to departure. We accept payment in cash, by most major debit and credit cards or by cheque (made payable to 'Oaklands Guesthouse'), providing it is covered by a cheque guarantee card for the full amount. There is a 5% surcharge on payments made by Amex or JCB. We reserve the right to request payment in full upon arrival or at any time during your stay.

Cancellations

If you have to cancel your booking, we will make every effort to re-let your accommodation. If, however, the accommodation remains unoccupied, we are legally entitled to retain your deposit and ask for a further payment of up to two thirds of the cost of any un-let accommodation as compensation. If we are able to re-let your entire booking, we will return your deposit less an administration fee of £15. Where a reservation has been secured using a credit or debit card, that card will be debited with the cancellation charge unless another payment method is offered and approved. We strongly recommend you take out insurance to prevent loss to yourselves.

Check-in and Departure Times

Check-in is between 2 pm and 6 pm, except by prior arrangement. On the day of departure, all rooms should be vacated by 10.15 am. Check-out during breakfast may be subject to delay, so please arrange to settle your bill the day before if you wish to make an early departure.

Keys

One set of keys will be issued for each room. If keys are lost or not returned on departure, a replacement fee of £10 per set will be charged to the room account. Where a reservation has been secured using a credit or debit card, that card will be debited with the replacement fee unless another payment method is offered and approved.

Smoking

Since 1st July 2007 it is against the law to smoke in all enclosed public places. This includes the whole of our guesthouse at any time. If we suspect that this rule is not being adhered to, we reserve the right to ask you to leave and make a charge for any additional cleaning that we deem necessary. Where a reservation has been secured using a credit or debit card, that card will be debited with the cleaning charge unless another payment method is offered and approved.

Pets

We do not accept any pets as we provide an allergy free environment for guests with breathing difficulties or other allergies.

Booking Liability & Safety Issues

The amenities are provided entirely at the user's risk and no responsibility can be accepted for any injury, loss or damage either personal or to motor vehicles that may be parked on the premises. Any damage or breakages howsoever caused are the responsibility of the person who made the booking and any payment to cover this will be required prior to departure. If any member of your party has any specific allergies that concern you, please make this known to the management upon arrival. The person who made the booking is responsible for all members of his/her party and should ensure that they are fully aware of our terms and conditions.

The number of people in the guest house must never exceed the number stated on the booking confirmation(s) and this must never exceed that which the accommodation is designed for. All names of guests must be supplied upon arrival and all visitors must also be notified to the management. Only registered guests are permitted in the guest house after 11pm. Children must be under strict adult supervision at all times when on the premises or in the grounds.

For your safety, a risk assessment has been carried out and any relevant points will appear in the form of a safety notice in your room information folder. These points must be complied with at all times. Fire and safety notices must be read on arrival and complied with at all times. We reserve the right to enter the accommodation at any time if there is reason to believe that safety notices are being contravened. Please remember that while you are on the premises you have a duty of care towards other guests.

In accordance with the UK's current immigration regulations, all overseas guests are required to provide certain information upon arrival at our guest house in addition to our normal registration requirements. If you do not hold a British passport, please ensure that you have the following information available when you arrive:

  • your passport number
