Came Down Golf Club (tel: 01305 813494) is situated between Weymouth and Dorchester on chalk downs with excellent drainage and magnificent views. The golf course is famous for the part it played in the founding of the Ryder Cup. The current layout of the golf club was designed by HS Colt, who also designed Muirfield, Royal Lytham, Pine Valley, St Andrews, Wentworth and Sunningdale, and is therefore a true test of skill for all levels. It has 18 holes, 6224 yards, SSS 71. Visitors are welcome without a reservation, except on Sunday mornings, but they must have handicap certificate.
