Disabled Guests

If you are looking for Weymouth accommodation suitable for a disabled holiday, you will find all you need at Oaklands.

With our wide doors and level access we are lucky to be one of the few accommodation providers in Weymouth to be able to accept guests requiring wheelchair access. Our disabled accommodation has been inspected by the Weymouth & Portland Access Group on all aspects of our accessibility, including facilities for guests with visual and hearing impairments, and have been graded as Level 1 (suitable for wheelchair users unable to walk). Please feel free to contact us to discuss any specific requirements that you may have about the Weymouth accommodation we provide.

The En-suite Bedroom

The ground floor bedroom has a hinged, 77 cm wide entrance door and contains a zip-n-link bed that can be made up as either a twin or a kingsize (bed height 58 cm, clearance under bed 4.5 cm). There is generous access to both sides of the bed (maximum clear space beside bed 130 cm), as well as sufficient space for a wheelchair to turn in the room. There are low level light switches, raised power sockets and an adjustable height hanging rail for clothes instead of a conventional wardrobe.

As with all the bedrooms in our Weymouth accommodation, it is totally non-smoking and has tea/coffee making facilities. It also contains a remote controlled colour TV with teletext to assist the hard of hearing who may require subtitles.

The very spacious en-suite facilities contain a raised toilet (height 51 cm) with an adjacent hinged grab rail. There is a level, wheel-in shower with a shower seat and grab rail and a basin without a pedestal. Access to these facilities is through a hinged door of width 90 cm.

Entrance, Lounge and Dining Room

There is a ramp at the front door of our Weymouth accommodation to take you up the 8 cm step to the front door and from there, the guests' lounge, dining room and bedroom are all on the same level. All doorways are wide enough for a standard wheelchair to pass quite comfortably.

We have large print registration forms and breakfast menus available - please just ask.

Parking

We can reserve a parking space for you in our car park immediately in front of the building. Just let us know whether you would prefer the maximum clearance to be on the driver's side or passenger side.

Assistance

There is a telephone next to the wheelchair accessible room (at a height of 130 cm) to allow guests to call for assistance (free of charge) if necessary. The telephone handset is fitted with an inductive coupler to assist users of post aural hearing aids.

We appreciate how difficult it can be to find somewhere that can cater for disabled holidays so, in addition to providing you with comfortable accommodation in Weymouth, we can give you advice on places to eat and things to do in Weymouth that also have disabled access. Hopefully we can take the strain out of booking disabled holidays so that all you have to do is enjoy yourself.

Please note that we are unable to accept pets of any kind at our Weymouth accommodation as we provide an allergy free environment for guests with breathing difficulties or other allergies.

There are low level light switches, raised power sockets and an adjustable height hanging rail for clothes instead of a conventional wardrobe. There are touch lamps on the bedside cabinets.
